World Diabetes Day 2010

In what has become a tradition on the blog, I'm letting Joseph's voice speak for the both of us today:

(Blows my mind to look at this video, and the one from last year... and the year before... I am so dang proud of him.)

Once again, the blog is blue until the end of the month in honor of Diabetes Awareness Month.

Wonderful Sandra! Please thank Joseph and let him know this Seattle Mama Pancreas is inspired by him! Have a great WDD..

Great video, as usual. Did you plan the ball color to match up with WDD? It's also amazing to see how mature Joseph is getting!

"Feeling like a beast", "Crap this sucks." :)

So articulate - once again, great job Joseph. Sarah - you have every reason to be proud.

Thanks, ladies!

And Val - no, we didn't plan the ball color.

He and his friends are always switching with each other... Joseph just happened to come home with a blue one on Friday. How cool is that? :-)

Such a handsome young man!
Your videos always make me smile. I'm so glad Joseph is doing great, in spite of the "the beast days."

Fantastic video as usual! My daughter and I re-watched the older ones and can't get over how much he's grown this year. And she was super intrigued by that puzzle ball thingy. Awesome!

I loved the video. I really loved when he mentioned the "positive" side of having the diabetes.

Excellent video...great job..I have a 12 year old daughter who was diagnosed 3 years back...she is another little trooper..like all the other kids out there. You guys are great. BTW, do you give him insulin before or after meals?

Sandra Miller said...

Anonymous-

Thanks.

As far as when Joseph takes his insulin - it varies depending on what his blood sugar is before he eats, what he is going to eat and how much insulin he has on board.

Hi, I am ten years old and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes three weeks ago....I love your video, playing with the Japanese balancing toy shows what you are trying to say very clearly.

Hey Sandra, I hope everyone's well and enjoying the fall so far. Missed seeing you at the Roche Summit this year. God bless.

Sandra,
We miss your posts- have you given up on the DOC? Hope Joseph is well.

Sandra Miller said...

Bernard -

Thanks so much for checking in. I hope you and your family are having a good fall (and not seeing too much snow!).

We're all doing fine, just lots going on...
I'm sad to have missed out on the Roche Summit, but having been away from the blog for so long, I think others would have more to bring to that table. (Still, it would have been great reconnecting with all of you. :-)

Anon -

Joseph is VERY well -- and no, I haven't given up on the DOC. I'm hoping to spend some time this month catching up with folks and (fingers crossed) posting a thing or two (!).
