World Diabetes Day 2009
People are gathering, talking, celebrating...
Blue is everywhere.
Once again, I'd like to add my son's voice to the chorus as he shares some of his thoughts about managing Type 1 diabetes and how he educates/involves his friends.
(We had a lot of fun doing this... our own mini WDD celebration.)
*Note: The blog stays blue until the end of the month in honor of Diabetes Awareness Month, returning to the usual orange-red hue on December 1st. :-)

What a great video! Joseph seems like such a mature young man! It's hard to imagine my 3 year old (type 1) daughter at his age! I hope she is as mature and open and positive as he is! Hope you had a great WDD!
Awesome video - my nine year old walked in while I was watching it, watched silently through the whole thing, then made me replay it. "How old is that kid? Fourteen? Wow!" His favorite part - "I scared a few of them"...

I was going to say "cute as a button", but considering his age I thnkg "maximum heartthrob potential" would be more appropriate.
I know that Joseph came into this world being a great kid, but I also know that you and the Mr. have workd hard to help him fully integrate the db into an active and productive life. Fabulous.
Wow! Awesome video. Joe is a great kid and will be an influential adult. I, too, am so impressed with his maturity and the way that he approaches diabetes. We have a lot to learn from him.

My son Addison is almost 3 and was diagnosed at 15 months. I loved watching this video of your son and was so impressed with him and how he handles his diabetes. It gave me so much hope for Addison's well being as he grows up. Thank you both for making/sharing this!

It was weird to me how much just the sounds at the very start of the video touched me. I actually cringed at the "poke", and knew exactly what it was. Why does it sound so much worse than it is?
And the bloopers at the end made my day. So funny!!
