A Belated Post

Happy New Year!

(And a very late Merry Christmas!)

And to the many folks who commented on my previous entry:

Thank you.

Your kind thoughts and wonderful suggestions meant a great deal to all of us.

Just looking across the street, at that empty house, still hurts.

But the holidays -- along with record snow fall -- have given us some wonderful distractions.

There's been much visiting with friends-- and playing with some really cool Christmas gifts (Joseph's big surprise was a PS2 from Gramma; Evan's was a "Plasma Car" from one of my sisters).

Oh yes, and there's been sledding.

A lot of sledding.

In fact, not only did we hit the big sled hill in our neighborhood almost every day last week-- but, because Ryan got the (inspired) idea to build a mini sled hill in our backyard, we're having more winter fun than a family has a right to.

See for yourselves...

Sandra,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too.

That video put a huge smile on my face too. I also watched it with tears in my eyes. It's funny how you can feel like family with someone you've never met.

You are amazing! I've passed by this blog but never read carefully before - what beautiful writing and moving stories. Most impressive to me is the relationship you have with your kids. It's inspiring to see such honesty and trust. Whatever you guys face, through this you are better equipped than most - and I can only imagine how much work it took to get there. My sincere admiration and best wishes for the new year.

I want that little car you were scooting on...not for the kids, but for me!

I loved the video :)

Sandra

Thanks for sharing such a great video.

If you want to send one of your children to our house to build a slide like that for ours, we'd love it.

Have a wonderful 2008!

Jillian-

Knock wood, the snow stays.

We just heard on the news last night that temps in the 40s are coming, and a boatload of our snow will melt by mid next week.

Dang!

Penny-

I know exactly what you mean.

Cynthia-

Best wishes to you, too. :-)

Shannon-

My God. I cannot keep off that thing.

Yesterday, Evan and I were tooling around the house on it while Joseph stalked us with a plastic tonka truck-- great fun!

Bernard-

I gotta say that Ryan is the mastermind (and master builder) of our slide. The kids call him the "human Zamboni." :-)

Seriously, though-- if you have the snow, I highly recommend building one of these things-- having something like this in your own backyard is sort of like having a swimming pool in summer.

Just awesome.

Last night it was 10 degrees, but we couldn't help ourselves-- we had to go out for some more runs...

It's hilarious that you can't keep off it, Sandra. That would be my main mode of transportation around the house.

I would also scoot alongside my kids when we walk to the bus stop.

Sandra Miller said...

LOL! Oh, Shannon-- I'm afraid it is my main mode of transport.

And just you wait til spring... ;)

I loved your video. (And the song. :) I also love that song!)

Your grin at the end was fantastic!

And, no word of a lie, my word verification is "supamom." It's like the Rhode Islander's "SuperMom." ;)

Kerri-

That is too funny. :-)
